There was a point in time that when the Palm Pilot was the hottest handheld around. The split and creation of the Visor Handspring and the subsequent popularity of the RIM Blackberry have made the PDA even more visible than ever. And in 2003, Palm came back with the Palm Treo 600, which proved that there was a demand for a convergent device incorporating a phone, a PDA and Blackberry in one appealing form factor. Building on the strength of their PDA and the Palm OS, the company has continued to build upon the Treo brand of PDA phones.

Among the strongest features of the Palm as a PDA phones is the connectivity it offers. With a USB cable, it can serve as a large USB drive. Current models, including the Treo 700w, now serve as a multi-function device with features like an MP3 player, a camera, WiFi, Bluetooth as well as other applications. The Palm Zire 71 and 72 have a camera, an MP3 player, as well as the phone. For the consumer market, the Palm Centro and the Palm Treo 500v were introduced. The Centro looked a lot more like a smartphone and less of a Palm PDA. It was thinner and with a noticeably different appearance. To appeal to the consumer market, the Centro and Treo 500v were priced less expensively when they were introduced in 2007. The newest model of Palm, called the Pre, has a GPS system as well as the standard connectivity features. The Palm Treo has a distinctive look and feel, and a strong OS which makes for a durable product. It's no wonder that even previously owned Palm Treo's have a good resale value. The very intuitive Palm OS is also another good reason to consider a used Palm Treo for a second phone.
