In recent years, LG has become a world-wide leader in cell phone sales due to their line of mobile phones. As of mid-2008, the company was poised to be the fourth largest cell phone company in the United States in terms of sales volume. The Korean manufacturing giant has leveraged its expertise in electronics goods into producing fashionable and technologically advanced cell phones.

Some of LG's latest models include the Dare, with a 3-inch touchscreen which boasts an an advanced handwriting recognition. With a built-in 3.2 megapixel camera and camcorder, it has advanced features including face detection. This smartphone also allows for browsing the web, has a microST memory port for storing media files (pictures, MP3, video), and is Bluetooth stereo capable. Although the Dare has an impressive camera, LG has a more impressive camera phone, called the Renoir. It has an 8 megapixel camera and other features to support picture taking which are usually found only in expensive digital cameras. The Renoir uses Schneider Kreusnach optics, a Xenon flash, ISO 1600 sensitivity and geo-tagging. Additionally, it allows for auto or manual focusing. One feature of the Renoir is its Touch Shot, where focusing is done by tapping on the touch screen to point to an area which would be in focus. It comes with preset shooting modes (Beauty Shot, Art Shot, Smile Shot, Continuous Shot of up to 9 frames in rapid succession, and Panorama Shot). Additionally, it also has Face Tracking and Blink Detection. The camcorder function has slow motion (120 fps) and fast motion video (5 fps) recording. The MP3 player even has Dolby Mobile which enhances the stereo sound.
Although a relatively late entrant in the cell phone industry, it is possible to get used LG cell phones on the second hand market. The marketing strategy of incorporating advanced features and rapid model introduction has enlivened the market for relatively new model used LG cell phones to be traded in favor of newer and more advanced LG models.
